Blake's Work and School

Blake has had multiple jobs this month. He built a bookshelf and redesign the camera closet for his teacher at BYU.
He also taught at a film camp, which happened to be for all Native Americans. He really enjoyed this job but it was a bit of a commute to spanish fork. It was fun to hear all the creative names his students had including rosebud and raven sky. After the week program there was a video production show that Elli and I was able to attend. The videos were fun to watch.
Blake has been teaching at a Lego camp weekly, in either Lindon or Provo. Each week has a different emphasis some include robotics, superheros, stop amination, etc.
Blake also work for BYU's materials & sciences camp for teachers for a week. He really enjoyed this job. He was able to learn from the camp as well as be feed for snack time and Lunch. I enjoyed this too because there was always left overs that Blake brought home to me.
Besides work Blake has been busy with school. He finished his spring semester last week but for a while he was double or triple booked with school and work. He took a multimedia class where he created a portfolio for future jobs  (howardhoover.com) - which he can keep updating, Remade/ programmed DuckHunt, and did a 3D animation project of rockom sockom robots.

The labor so far...

a week ago-Friday night I started feeling alot of pressure in my pelvis. It kinda freaked me out. why was this there? Then about midnight I started having contractions. Pretty mild but they kept consistantly coming. after a half an hour of this we called Blakes mom to come down and be with Elli just in case. after an hour of the contractions not stopping and getting a little more intense we decided to go into the hospital. It was about 3 am (now saturday 6/22). In the hospital I was dilated to 2.5 (which is what I was told I was the day before from my doctor). There the contractions started to get more and more intense. The baby went from floating to engaged and I started to dilate up to a 4 within a couple hours. The contractions were about avg of 3 min apart and hard enough that I had to breath through them. I would have intense contractions and then they would end and my stomach would still be just as hard just not as intense inbetween- we could see on the screen that these were mini contractions inbetween. They admitted me into the hospital and gave me some medicine incase I had group B strep ( the results had not come back yet from my previous doctors appt). Then the contractions started to get less and less. It got to the point where I wasn't progressing and they sent us on an hour walk. after the walk I hadn't moved forward so they sent us home at about 10am. This was really discouraging because we had got our hopes up and thought the baby was really coming and it didn't. It was also really nice to get out of the hospital and in our own bed, eat,  and to be able to go where we wanted.

The contractions continued through out the next day (sunday) pretty mild in the morning and then in the afternoon started to get more intense. We then went on walks and they were getting more and more intense. then they started to lessen in intensity as the night drew near. In the middle of the night I woke up from the contractions and felt like I could push, not that it was time to push but I had more power to do it. We decided to go back into the hospital again (2am?) and in the hospital I was still a 4 and my contractions were about every 5 min but they were not that intense. We then went home after an hour.

The next day (monday) I had a few contractions but all mild and my labor has seemed to disappear or at least gone down to the point that I barely notice it and can do my everyday things.  We finally got to see Elli again which we missed so much. this was the longest I've ever been away from her.

Tuesday was the same - few very mild contractions throughout the day.

Wednesday - I had a few contractions in the morning and then that night around 7pm I started to have that same pelvic pain I had fri night. Is it time? after a hour or two The contractions came on very regularly and alot more intense. These intense but not painful contractions continued all through the night making it hard to get through the night.

Thurday- these somewhat intense contractions have not stopped but continued all day but didn't change in intensity. This day I was really feeling the soreness through out my body for being in labor this long. espeacially in my stomach, pelvis and back. I am starting to get pretty exhausted from the sleepless nights I've had and this pre-labor. I also found out the results to the group b strep test - I dont have it... so next time I don't have to take the medicine! whoohoo!

Friday (today) - The contractions are still going but have not changed in intensity. They consistantly keep coming though.

I would of been 3.5 weeks early if it was born that first morning so it is good that the baby is still inside. This way it can have a better chance of being healthier but its still crazy to not know when the baby will actually come. I think it will come quite quickly when it finally decides to because I am already partly done and because I had a fairly fast labor with Elli.

I don't know if this baby will come this week or in 3 weeks but I am ready and excited when its time.

Fathers Day

This fathers day was Blakes 2nd one to celebrate. Blake is such a great dad to Elli and can't wait to meet our new baby next month. Elli always loves to welcome Blake home from work and to say good bye to Blake when he leaves. They often are rolling around on the floor playing with eachother. Being a dad has come very natural to Blake and we are so lucky to have him.

In celebration Elli and I got Blake a bouque of roses...but not just any roses...bacon roses! We had fun creating these for Blake and he sure was not expecting them. (Elli pulled the previous fake flowers apart and I create the new flowers to add) We also enjoyed a nice breakfast of pancakes.

After church I (Heidi) was able to talk to my dad on the phone! I just love my Dad...he is my hero!

We also headed over to the Hoovers house and brought Blakes Dad some ranger cookies and joined the family for dinner and visiting. We went on a nice walk around the neighborhood as a family too.

A run to the emergency room...

This last wednesday night we were eating dinner and I (Heidi) started to not be able to see very clearly. It was like there was a "after-flash" mark there on the right side of  my vision. It didn't matter which eye I looked through or if my eyes were open or closed. after about 20 minutes of this I saw that it wasn't going away and laid down.
It eventually went away and soon after I started to feel pretty sick. Next my right hand and arm went numb for 10 min. Then my head started hurting. next it was my toungue that went numb, and then my gums/ teeth, and then chin, and then lower cheeks, annd then neck. I just felt so off and sick. I started to burn up and the head ache continued. At this point Blake come back inside from doing yard work and saw my condition. He called the doctors and they said go to the ER. So we did. There my headache got alot worse and some of the numbness was coming and going. I had a small dose of morphine and zophram for the pain. This made me feel even worse! but after an hour the headache started to get better. I had a MRI on my brain to make sure everything was ok. Everything was ok. The doctor then concluded that it was a migraine. After being at the hospital for 5 hours we finally went home that night at midnight.

The next day I would get head aches here and there and just feel sick. It has gotten alot better since and I am just trying to take it easy.

(I had something like this happen to me about 2-3 years ago.) Turns out I am ok but it was sure an adventure.

Elli's sayings

Elli's vocabulary is going way up! she has words she says and definitly knows what they mean. she also is trying to say new words alot.

-wa go (where did it go) - she plays this game alot too. hides things and makes a surprised face with her    hands up in the air.

Lake Powell

The Hoover family did one of their annual trips to Lake Powell. Blake was sad to miss it as he had to host a leadership conference at the same time. But Elli and I got to go! Besides us it was Blakes parents, Kody & Jenny and their family & dog, Bryant & Heidi and their family, Wade, Kayla, and Jodie. This trip was in honor of Kayla as it was the last thing she did before going on a mission.

It was such a fun trip! We had yummy meals, campfire & smores', played in the water (although it took a moment to get past the cold, and had boat rides. Being pregnant I didn't ski but I did do a mild ride on the water winny. I was able to share the blow up matress with Jean which was so nice. It took a while for Elli to learn to walk on the unlevel ground but by the end of the trip she seemed to have mastered it.

The most crazy event was the sand storm. We got hit by a sand storm that was extremely hard. It felt like needles hitting you. The shade got torn, everything had sand covering it, things were getting flown into the lake. After each thing hit the water Bryant would jump in after it to save it. He really did save sooo much! Because it was so sandy, each time he came out of the water wet the sand just stuck to him so he was completely brown. The kids and I hid in the nose of the boat for the remainder of the storm. once the storm hit one direction and stopped, it started hitting us from the oppisite direction. Luckly this was our last night.
